Our Writing Against the Darkness team will be writing together on Winter Solstice 2022 and Summer Solstice 2023!
Not a Pipe Publishing’s team, Writing Against the Darkness, will be participating in The Alzheimer’s Association’s annual The Longest Day fundraiser. And this year we’re getting ahead by writing on the winter solstice, too!
Join the team HERE.
Please consider joining me and the authors of Not a Pipe Publishing in Writing Against the Darkness. As part of the Alzheimer's Association's #TheLongestDay event, we'll be writing from dawn until dusk on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice. If you are a writer and would like to join us, please let me know and I'll send you an invite. Please consider donating!
Over the last few years, we've put together a team of writers in various locations. Some of us got together at a beautiful beach house on the Oregon coast a couple years ago. Others wrote in their homes and shared their progress with us via social media. We wrote more than 50,000 words our first day. That's right; we completed a full NaNoWriMo in a single day! We raised over $5000 dollars just by asking friends and family to support our team via social media. That's $5000 dollars more of research to find a cure, care for those currently suffering from Alzheimer's, and (I love that The Alzheimer's Association focuses on this) support for the family members who are caring for those afflicted with the disease. Since then, we've broken those writing and fundraising records, writing together on the Longest Day and on the shortest, Winter Solstice, and connecting via Zoom. Join the team and get the link, and we'll write together from 7:22am to 4:54pm on December 21st to practice for the big day when we'll write from 5:24am to 9:04pm on June 21st, 2023.
I'm doing what I love to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. My grandparents, Don and Jean Warner, were afflicted with Alzheimer's/dementia. Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. In the U.S. alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease that they are not alone. Please make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease, and help the writers from Not a Pipe Publishing and our writer peers write against the darkness. Thank you!
