The Anti-Fascist Write-athon

Location: Zoom (though we’re organizing an in-person at Bold Coffee and Books in Portland for folx who can make it. More information to come.)
Are you an author, poet, screenwriter, song writer, or any other kind of artist who creates art with the written word?
And are you opposed to fascism?
Then you meet all the criterion to participate in the Anti-Fascist Write-athon!
On January 3rd of 2026, writers from around the world joined on a Zoom call and hammered away at their keyboards, working on whatever work-in-progress they chose, and took breaks to comiserate with their fellow anti-fascist writers. We wrote over 52,000 words! During breaks, we talked about when we should do it again, and someone suggested the 4th of July. Everyone was very excited about the idea! If you’re feeling deeply uncomfortable with the traditional flag waving on this 4th of July, join us and write. At the end of the day, we’ll collect everyone’s word totals and see how much this group has written together. Friends, family, and fans will root us on by donating money to the cause.
The funds we raise will go to supporting the Antifa Lit Journal and the various not-for-profit groups it promotes. This will allow the journal to more fairly compensate the authors/poets/visual artists who contribute, and it will help promote organizations which are fighting fascism in court and on the streets.
