Fast Five with Alie Dumas-Heidt

At Not a Pipe Publishing, we’re always looking for new ways to help readers and writers connect. That’s what our show, Writers Not Writing, is all about, and Fast Five is another way to help you, our beloved readers, get to know your next favorite author. (If you’re an author and would like to be featured on Fast Five, go HERE.)

Today’s Fast Five guest is author Alie Dumas-Heidt!

1. Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm a writer in the PNW, married, a mom to adult kids, and I live in the forest with my husband and two dogs. I've always been a writer, and my debut detective thriller, The Myth Maker, was started when I was in my early 20s and worked as a 911 operator/police dispatcher.

2. What do you have out there now that readers can enjoy?

The Myth Maker is out July 8. It's my debut detective thriller but hopefully not the last!

3. When you are procrastinating from your writing, what's something you've been into lately that's keeping you from your work?

Besides all the absolute chaos in the world, I'm easily distracted by yarn craft and the coloring books on my tablet! Escaping is big right now.

4. How have you been using your voice to make the world a better place?

I've always been loud. I've been an ally in the lgbtq+community my entire life and I've written a lot about women's issues. I wrote a 4 part essay on my Substack about my experience as a pregnant, unwed girl in Utah in the 90s to highlight how difficult being pregnant can be in light of recent events and people thinking it's no big deal to force women and girls to be pregnant, before we force them to be moms. I wasn't forced, that's part of the message. I also may or may not have an anonymous political account online...

5. Where can readers find you and your work? [links to books, websites, socials]

www.aliedh.com has links to the PRH order link as well as a link to my blog

Thank you for all your work for readers, Alie!
